But dont think i have found any solution yet. I have a windows server, and would like to restrict people from deleting the files. Hi there I have been going through forum regarding restricting people from deleting the files.

Is there a software or tool to restrict users from deleting files and folder? Windows.Numbers/Types of Back end IT Staff for supporting infrastructure (Is this in addition to helpdesk staff?) IT staff to employee ratio for help desk types of services Hi all, I'm curious to get thoughts on the following: IT staff to Employee Ratio IT & Tech Careers.Had a 3rd party ask me to stop at one of their clients and diagnose a connection issue. The UPS was not connected to anything or even plugged in so I am guessing dead batteries there. The DSL system had been upgraded but they never removed the old DSL modem. For the end user that means once they activate a VPN remotely they work the same way they do in the office just slower. With just 15 users you can go either way although the VPN to your router is a more flexible solution because the same setup that works when the laptops are on the local LAN will work remotely thought the VPN without any additional configuration. For the remote users you need to use a remote access setup managed by your router/firewall or by the Synology coupled with the locator service - a VPN client and server setup. For the local users this is pretty normal stuff. Your sharing scheme is better suited to SMB file sharing with previous versions enabled. That doesn't fit with the general access scheme you want.

Multiple masters will only work when you setup folder/directory on the NAS for each separate master. It really was intended for one master pushing to the NAS and everyone else the NAS pushes them. If the device is pushing to the NAS then a local delete will delete same on the NAS at the next update. When the NAS is pushing to the device, deleting an item locally would typically result in the NAS putting the item back on the remote at the next update.

On each device connecting to it at some point in the Install process you have to choose whether you are pushing to the NAS or the NAS is pushing to the device. Please advise!!!Ĭloudstation acts more like Dropbox than filesharing. We do consistently rename & edit the folder names as well as the jpeg's but i've been told Cloudstation can manage this. Laptop is pulling down the new folder/file but also pushing back the old folder/file. It just seems as if someone's laptop is not seeing the folder/file action as a rename but as if the folder/file rename is the creation of a new folder/file. I also see this when we move files.the files will be in the new location AND the files will be repopulated back to the old location. HOWEVER, sometimes, someones laptop is also pushing back smithOLD.so now we have 2 folders on the NAS (& eventually everyone's laptop) smithOLD and smithNEW.

The NAS and everyone else receive the updated folder, smithNEW. I rename a folder from smithOLD to smithNEW. Someone will change or delete a folder/jpeg in CUSTOMERS and someone else's computer will not reflect that change but instead will re-add the folder back to the NAS and it replicates back to everyone's cloudstation folder on their laptop Ok now the issue I am seeing frequently is the following: If the person is not on wifi, the next time they connect to wifi.any changes they made locally in the cloudstation folder will be replicated back up to the NAS and back out to everyone else's cloudstation etc etc. If someone is working out of the office but on wifi, we should see those changes at some point. My understanding is any change made within folder CUSTOMERS is replicated across the network to our NAS. Out of the office, they are directed to use the Cloud Station folder. In the office, employees are directed to use the network share. So on each users laptop, at the root of C:\ we each have a folder called CLOUDSTATION and in that folder is the synced copy of CUSTOMERS with all of its subfolders and jpegs. This CUSTOMERS folder is what we sync via cloud station to a local folder on each laptop. Each customer folder typically has several jpg files. We have one folder (CUSTOMERS) which has 1000s of subfolders all named after our customers. In the office we have one network share on the NAS (DS415+) which all users are mapped to. My office has 15 people who use laptops in the office.
